More hours went by. It had to have been hours because the sun had finally, truly set and the forest was literally set in shadows. The blue-silver color of night tainted everything and created jumping shadows. Sage gave a nervous nicker, twitching her ears back and forth and rolling her eyes. She was not happy about this at all.

You know those movies we watch-

"Yeah, the horror film marathons? I know them, why would you bring them up at a time like this?" She shivered and raised a single hand out in front of her, palm up. "Hold on Sage, let me concentrate." Coming from a long family line of witches it was embarassing to be so weak, herself, and concentration was incredibly mandatory for even the simplest of light spells. She narrowed her eyes at the spot six inches above her palm, and focused her breathing until a slight pain began to build up behind her eyes. Finally a tiny ball of light began to form and radiate until it bobbed, glowing faintly and lifted from her hand.

"There we go." Rach rubbed her brow, closing her eyes and sighing. Maybe she should have packed some pain meds as well. She never was good with healing spells and getting a headache to cure a headache wasn't exactly her idea of fun. Sage gave a rude snort and rolled her yellow eyes, snapping at the glowing orb as it buzzed past her head. It hummed loudly and bobbed out of reach. "hey! Don't torment it, that's the only light we have."

What, did the batteries run out in the damn flashlight? Sage pinned her ears again as the orb zoomed under foot.

"No, but I don't want to waste them right now."

no, but suffering from endless migraines is the better option. I see your logic now. O' Might-One.

"Smartass."

mommy always said don't be a dumbass. . . . Now are you done- Sage stomped hard squishing the light ball into to smaller orbs. It separated with a fierce pop and the two pieces buzzed away in opposite directions, leaving the rider and horse in the suddenly very dense darkness before zooming back just in front of the harlequine mares nose to crash back into one piece with a vibrant explosion of light. Urgh- Interrupting me?

"Yes, continue"

I was saying- you know the ones where the hallways never end and the more you walk, or run, the longer they stretch? Rach groaned a soft 'oh no' I haven't seen a bend in the trail, or a change in the trees density in ages, Rach. I. . . I don't think this place ends. And I damn well don't think that there's a central point for us to reach.
